Press Release – The Haitian-American Chamber Of Commerce Presents The 2nd Annual “Top 20 Under 40” awards to honor Haitian-American Young Professionals.

The Board of Directors of the Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida (HACCOF) presents The Second Annual ” Top 20 Under 40″ awards to honor Haitian-American Young Professionals (YoPros) in the South Florida community, age 40 and under, for their commitment and contributions professionally, civically, academically and personally. As a community of vibrant, energetic, creative and out-of-the box thinkers, YoPros are an expression of cultural pride throughout the Haitian community.
 
HACCOF received almost 70 applications from successful young Haitian-American professionals in South Florida.  Through a highly competitive process, HACCOF has selected the 2017 class of Top 20 under 40 YoPros and is pleased to announce the awardees.
 
On June 17, 2017, the YoPro Award ceremony will culminate the Haitian American Business Summit  presented by the Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida, the Office of Miami-Dade Commissioner Jean Monestime and the Banque de la République d’Haïti (BRH). The Haitian American Business Summit is being held at FIU’s Kovens Center on June 16th and will provide an opportunity to evaluate and assess the current level of diaspora involvement in Haiti and explore new methods of interaction. HABS-2017 Miami will serve as a platform for Haitian American organizations throughout the United States, professional associations along with public & private sectors of Haiti to exchange ideas and establish a working plan toward greater cooperation. HABS-Miami 2017 will feature keynote speakers including high-level Haitian govern ment officials, leaders of the Haitian financial community and United States elected officials.

Le Gouverneur de la Floride, visite la Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida

 

C’est un Rick Scott décontracté, accompagné d’un service de sécurité discret qui est arrivé aux locaux du CMS International Group —entreprise dirigée par Jeff Lozama qui fait aussi office de président de la Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida— pour s’entretenir avec le board de la chambre.

D’entrée de jeu, Jeff Lozama donna le ton en invitant le gouverneur à faire le tour de la propriété. Comme pour lui dire que la communauté haïtienne est créatrice d’emplois, et contribue, à travers le fisc, à l’économie de l’État, ce qui a toujours été la principale priorité de cet homme d’affaires devenu gouverneur. Scott ne put cacher son admiration en visitant cette impressionnante entreprise qui fournit des matériaux de finition aux professionnels de la construction non seulement en Floride, mais aussi en Haïti, à la Jamaïque, à la Barbade, etc.

La visite guide terminée, la réunion débuta. M. Lozama la plaça dans son contexte. La Chambre de commerce rencontrait le gouverneur dans le cadre des préparatifs devant conduire à l’organisation du Haitian American Business Summit qui sera organisé en collaboration avec l’homologue de la chambre en Haïti, la Amcham, et le bureau de Jean Monestime, président du board de Miami-Dade Country, du 15 au 17 juin prochains. Le but de ce sommet, sur lequel nous reviendrons dans un autre article, est de promouvoir une participation plus active de la diaspora dans le développement et la modernisation d’Haïti, tout en définissant une vision claire pour les communautés diasporiques locales. Donc, il y a un chevauchement certain entre ce double objectif et celui d’un gouverneur qui ne jure que par le renforcement de l’économie floridienne.
